Short walking distance to train to and from Sydney. The room looked great on arrival, clean, modern and a great size with 2 double beds, putting my toiletries in the bathroom I accidently knocked aside the rooms bathroom amenities, to discover a left behind cotton bud they don't supply , dust and hair, after that I noticed more, the tiled window sill above the shower had not been wiped, dust was on all surfaces along w Wollongong is high priced for very average accommodation and I found it here, next time I will try somewhere else.
I'm old enough to remember when the Normandie was one of the leading hotels in Wollongong. OK, hotels have moved on as has Wollongong. Still, with an old building and not the best situation in the north 'Gong, the current management are working hard to keep their standards up. I was visiting friends so did not want the hotel to "entertain" me; I just wanted a place to I was visiting friends so did not want the hotel to "entertain" me; I just wanted a place to sleep and shower. It was also excellent value for money.
I'll definitely recommend this place to my friends looking for comfort, accessibility and great value for their money on accommodation within Wollongong CBD. Enjoyed the stay very much. The tennis courts could have been better surfaced and the putt putt golf course swept clean from leaves and cones.
Everything else was great. Hmmm not to impressed. No balcony not the best quest I've stayed at better options in the area on offer. Check-in was hassle-free, and the room was decently clean.
We also appreciate the free tea and biscuits ensuite. Would recommend to any traveller on a budget swinging by Wollongong. I think this is one of the only motels in the area so they can basically charge what they like, and they do. It's at least fifty dollars a night too expensive for what you get. My bathroom was right out of the seventies, a pink love nest. Paper thin walls and my neighbours decided that 4.
They had no concept of other people nearby, t They had no concept of other people nearby, they turned the TV on loud, had loud conversations. The Manager happily upgraded us for a small fee and we were very happy.
This is the 2nd time we have stayed here and will definitely be back. The hotel is quite convenient to the city centre while being somewhat less expensive than the more upmarket hotels in town. Liked the place. Good base with enough facilities to be self catering for longer stays.
Not so upmarket but excellent for the price. I travel to Wollongong for business a lot and normally stay a week. I have found my new home there. Have already booked for my next stays there. Manager is great. Could not do enough to help. Made you feel welcome as an individual not jus Made you feel welcome as an individual not just as a number. All round just a pleasant experience. Our second stay in the Marketview, and we will absolutely be returning!
The staff are Uni of Wollongong Hospitality students, and are obviously being taught well. They are friendly, smile and are more than willing to help sadly becoming rarer in some of the service industry.

Furthermore, he managed to find us a room for a 3rd night, which, being Australia Day, we had believed was fully booked pretty much everywhere. Excellent service.
The rooms are smallish but fine - they are essentially Japanese business-hotel rooms the Marketview was formerly an IBIS hotel , right down to the moulded showers. I recommend the Marketview - and commend the great staff! This property is the older building attached to the main motel "Comfort Inn, Fairways". Clean linen. Clean bathroom. Comfy mattress. The carpet was rather old and worn, but that didn't fuss us The carpet was rather old and worn, but that didn't fuss us.
Convenient location, minute drive from main street and beach. Lovely views. Very clean, spacious and comfortable self-contained unit with all crockery, cutlery and saucepans provided. Will be happy to return if we visit Wollongong again :. Really enjoyed our selves. Arrived on a Thursday night after hours and greeted by the most friendly bar staff and very helpful manager.
Room was gorgeous!!! Huge and with everything you need! We could have stayed a week, easily and with all the conforts of home. Loved the private alfre Loved the private alfresco area, direct access to the pool and sunning area. We ate at the bistro and dumpling pop up bar and the food was excellent. The views are also spectacular and allow you easy access to the beach.

We had a 2 day stay in Wollongong. But covid came quite close to the city, so we weren't able to do much sightseeing, definitely would love to return for a longer stay, at a later time.
We also didn't have a car so couldn't travel in the area much. Beautiful place. Worth a visit. Nice beaches up north but down towards port kembla doesnt look nice until past unanderra. It had lots of options for night entertainment. The restaurants were varied, served great meals and were reasonable in price. We had Greek one night and Vietnamese the next. Must stop for breakfast or lunch or a cuppa at Bulli Beach Cafe. Beautiful city with very pleasant people, great food and lovely harbour walk with lovely beaches A great place to visit.
All had good service, menu with variety to suit many tastes and dietary needs. The Old Court House provided a great exhibition of talented textile artists and a short walk over the road to an efficient and busy cafe providing a huge selection of food and great coffee. A great area to visit, lots of activities and places to see. Close to beaches of your choice. Take the shuttlebus and go for a tour around the city, then return to areas you like.
Wollongong is a city and very busy. Luckily there are areas quite close for recreation and quiet. Was recommended by family who live in the area to book this Hotel Rooms were very clean; beds and pillows were comfortable, and the complimentary breakfast box was a lovely touch. The location in Fairy Meadow was close to shops and restaurants. The Hotel is attached to a day pub which closes at midnight but we did not hear any noise from patrons. We like that there is big space between cabins.
Enough outdoor space for children to play where you can see them. The place is nice and quiet. Easy access to beach and bike path that takes you miles! Near supermarket and a good butcher. Best of all we find price is very reasonable. What else can you ask for? We always enjoy our stay here and will definitely be coming back.
Friendly and welcoming staff. Centrally located close to numerous food outlets and a short walk to a hotel. Highway location midway between two suburbs with a large shopping centre a few minutes away and only a short drive to Central Wollongong. Rooms were compact but suitable for a couple. An older motel but well maintained and very clean. Plenty of parking space. The hotel was pleasant but there wasn't anything special about it.
The beds were comfortable and the room was clean. It was in a good location and it was easy to walk to bars, cafes, restaurants and even the local shopping centre.
The view was pretty nice looking over the water and the golf course. The staff were friendly as well which is always a plus. The staff were all very friendly and helpful. It was fantastic to have a full-sized kitchen with a dishwasher and fridge in the apartment - such a bonus. The apartment was spotless and a good size. The wifi was great and free which is always a plus.
The pool was a good size but still freezing not the hotel's fault of course ;-. Comfortable non pretentious simple bit outdated decor but I love that in a motel. I worked in hotels four n five star my career I love taking a step back into a local suburban easy going motel n relaxing. It was my birthday booze up n needed somewhere cheap safe comfy n close. This place hit the spot. The breakfast was exceptional - so much delicious food there was no way we could finish it all.
Fresh and well cooked and the restaurant staff were friendly and accommodating. The beds are hands down the most comfortable beds of any hotel we have stayed in and we travel a lot!! A great hotel opposite the train station. The rooms are lovely and really comfortable.
We had a great stay and enjoyed eating in the bistro. We attended a concert in Wollongong and it was quick and easy to hop on the train. We will definitely stay here again. Location was great very central. The rooms were great and clean. The price for the apartment was substantially cheaper but you get more bang for your buck compared to the hotels. The man at the front desk was so lovely and accommodating.
The hotel room at everything we needed.
